Great friendly race with fantastic scenic views of the South Downs.
Highly recommend - this was my 2nd time doing the race and I loved it!
I loved this event; the course (Sussex event, marathon route) was excellent, very scenic with clearly marked trails, the aid stations were basic but had everything I needed, volunteers and marshalls were lovely and the check in was incredibly simple. I really enjoyed myself and will do more endurance events.
Thanks for being part of it Gabby! Pleased to hear the team did a good job in supporting you through the challenge. Hope to see you again soon.
A phenomenal day of racing! No stone left unturned in the race pack it a good way to settle any race day nerves. I ran the Sussex HM and it was the most fun course (maybe type 2 fun given the monster hills at the start and the end). Highly recommended.
Haha well done to you Adrian! Great to hear you took on the Challenge in the spirit for which it is intended! Hope to see you again soon.
Excellent event, well run with an incredible course
Thanks Matthew! Great to hear you enjoyed the Sussex event 😊
Great event which definitely deserves the 5/5 rating for difficulty. First half of the course was tough the heavy rain over the previous week making the inclines and decents more muddy and slippy. The last third of the course was horrendous 😫 the wind turned to gale force the mud on the coastal path was really bad. I personally found it impossible to run so my only option was to power hike the last 10 miles. I found it difficult to stay on my feet which slowed my progress and I lost the daylight. The last two hours I completed in the dark without a head torch (not mandatory kit for the marathon). My expectation when preparing for the race was to complete it within daylight hours I never dreamed i would be out on the course for so long. Thankfully the course was marked really well and I could pick my way through the mud. I couldn't use my phone torch because I couldn't hold the phone and poles and then remain upright. Definitely the toughest event i have participated it. Despite my difficulties I loved the challenge and the course. For my own learning I will now always carry a head torch. Noting the number of marathon runners who finished the event after dark I would suggest EnduranceLife review their mandatory kit list and add a head torch for the marathon.
Great to hear about your experiences Ian and a big congratulations to you! Duely noted re head torch. Best wishes!
