Great race not sure about the sea crossing in first mile of the marathon water was very deep high waves and stones underfoot
Purbeck Marathon 2025 - a tough trail challenge but an enjoyable one overall with a great route (plenty of elevation) and a real mix of hills, coast and beach all with gorgeous views of the Purbeck scenery around Sewange, Durlston Head and Corfe. Interesting early part of the route across the beach / cliff base at high tide with a large surf which was a bit nuts, but otherwise very well organised and run
Really friendly team, well run and organised. Dorset Coastal run is extreme, not for the feint hearted, but you will certainly get your money’s worth.
Dorset Marathon was a crazy experience. Within the race briefing we were told your feet might get a bit wet, within the first 5 minutes of running we were waist deep in water! It was great fun and I thought the hilarity would keep me going for at least the first half of the race. But again a few minutes later the experience changed as we got to the tops of the hills and extreme headwinds were coming at us. That sets the tone really, it was a constantly changing race with stunning views (when you could look up from your feet). I liked that this circular course didn't involve repeating any sections and after halfway you got a wee bit more help of the wind behind you. The last 10km were a mud bath contouring and slipping along the coast with a couple of torturous stair sections to really kill your legs off. It was lovely having a decent to the finish and being able to see the finish from about a km away.
While the Endurancelife events are slightly pricey, the organisation was on point (both pre race with communication and on the day), the course markers consistently visible when needed and aid stations regular enough for the distance (the last one really was a saviour). The course was a beast in the weather conditions but really well thought out and brilliant fun. Thank you to the event organisers and marshals.
It was a great event and experience for all the views and volunteers as everyone was engaged in making good event. However the first part of the run on the sea is not acceptable as put everyone safety at risk and made everyone all wet. The water stations were good and plentiful. It is a very muddy terrain - way to much , but the end of the run made up with great support.
It’s been a few years since I last ran an Endurance Life event and happy to say this years Dorset marathon didn’t disappoint.! An insane 1st mile, waist high in sea water on a couple of occasions defo set the scene. Followed by a pretty brutal head wind for a good half of the race. All topped off with strength zapping mud along the coast path section - all in all this was a marathon to test strength of both body and mind!
Thanks to the team at Endurance Life for running these events. The route was perfect and I’d recommend to all looking for a trail marathon challenge with a bit of an edge.!
Another great event with stunning scenery, love the simplicity and format of it
There was mud, waves, wind, mud. Only a fool wouldn’t appreciate how these added to the experience.
Huge thanks to
@endurancelife
for another excellent race through and around Swanage yesterday. They had to reroute the ultra course at the last minute but still came up with something challenging and picturesque (not that I had the energy to properly appreciate the latter). As ever the comms, marshals, signage and aid stations were great. Thank you.
Thanks Sam! We appreciate you coming and supporting the events so great to hear you enjoy them :)
Thanks Lindsey for supporting the events! Congratulations on your Ultra:)
